Deadmau5's first proper release in 2006 started out as a joke. It was called This Is The Hook, written together with Steve Duda, under the name BSOD (which stands for ‘Better Sounding On Drugs’). They took a house beat and added a digitised voice explaining what was happening. They were taking the piss out of how formulaic house can be and they thought it was hilarious. What they hadn’t counted on was it going to Number 1 in online record store Beatport’s chart. Read more on Last.fm.

BSOD stands for Better Sounding on Drugs and is Steve Duda vs. Deadmau5. Deadmau5 and Steve Duda are close friends, and often tour with each other.. due to Deadmau5' common success Duda tends to travel with Deadmau5 often. The two are currently working on a piece of software similar to 'FL Studio' in ways, to go on par with their sample collection they released some time ago.. there has been no full information about what it is about other than the two are working on it together, in hopes to create something easy yet powerful.
